The Reproductive Vet viewed our Day 55 X-ray today. I had some concerns about a very large head shaped object on the x-ray, concerned that we had a very large puppy. She said it is indeed another puppy, but not oversized. She feels the pups around that puppy are all very small. So, it was helpful to learn that we may have some low birth weight pups in the litter and I'm heading out to buy some more nurser bottles, just in case.

She agreed with my vet that a ribcage seen at the top of the x-ray doesn't appear to be attached to any visable head, so we anticipate that this is puppy # 13.

Looking forward to D-Day, but am starting to get a little nervous! Jade is still doing just great. I'm enjoying feeling her puppies move around inside of her belly. I need to get some more pictures before she delivers!

Today's x-ray came out much better than Monday's, though we still aren't totally sure about the puppy count. We do know there are at least eleven puppies with a possibility of one or two more. Planning and preparing now for all these babies!

Today was x-ray day and unfortunately we didn't get a very good picture. We counted at least nine pups and have the opinion that there are more. Hard to explain - but sometimes they are hiding behind others or overlapping one another or you may see a spine with no skull - which means it's in there somewhere! We have scheduled another x-ray for Day 55 which is next Friday. Hopefully we will get a better picture then and I can update the journal then.

Bloodwork looks great and so does Jade. We're looking forward to D-Day which is probably going to be between February 2nd and 4th. We will post details and hopefully photos too after each puppy is born, so don't forget to check back here frequently the first week of February.

Congratulations Jade and Kodiak! Palpation and ultrasound on December 31st show that Jade is carrying a large litter of puppies, due February 04, 2006 - which is coincidentally Jade's birthday. Our x-ray and bloodwork is scheduled for January 21st. We should have an idea of how many pups she's carrying after viewing the x-ray. Will post details then.
