Seven weeks - down to the wire. I'm overloaded with things to do to get these puppies ready for their new homes, so yes, I'm behind on photos and the updates! The girls are BIG now, totally adorable and lots of work! It's a challenge to find enough hours in the day to do everything I need to do with them and with all the stuff I need to send them home with. Photos will come soon! Check out printroom.com (member name Chinook11) to see some recent ones.

Also, one of our best homes had to back out on a puppy this past week due to personal reasons. We now have a pick quality breed potential female available for placement, though please don't take it personally that I am being very selective and picky about the home she goes into. We will make puppy-owner matches after the conformation, temperament, CERF and vet evaluations which are all scheduled by March 27th. CERF is scheduled for next Tuesday, the 21st.

The puppies are now 6 weeks old. Today they ate their first bowl of kibble, not ground, not softened, but plain old kibble. Jade is still trying to nurse them a few times a day, but I really don't think it's much more than a bonding process now. We've been alternating days (with cruddy weather) taking the puppies outside or letting them run free inside. Last night, we took out all ten girls at the same time. It was madness! Jade is finally at that point where she likes to play with the puppies and even though I took some photos, none of them even begin to show how cute they were playing. Jade was running circles around the furniture for fun and having all of the babies chase her. Most of them decided it was more fun to chew cow hooves and play with toys after a while. We've also been letting the pups play with Nikki and Kootnai. Moody doesn't really care for puppies, so he steers clear of them other than the occasional sniff. Nikki is one year old and she is surprisingly gentle with the puppies and has been quite behaved around them. Aunt Kootnai just rolls over and lets them walk all over her. The puppies are so adorable and so much fun at this stage. If you are fairly local and haven't visited yet, please come and help us socialize. We've had lots of visitors, but not as many as we have with our past litters. The pups are looking forward to making some new friends.

Today the puppies went outside for the first time. They loved it. Alex entertained them while I did a thorough clean of the puppy pen. Will do it again everyday that we have good weather and maybe when I get a break from cleaning the pen, I'll actually take some outdoor photos.

Well, today the puppies turn five weeks old! The girls are doing awesome. They've been busy listening to their sound desensitization tapes, playing in our family room and kitchen (one or two at a time), playing with a variety of new toys, watching TV (yes, really!) and eating a lot of gruel, which is now thick in consistency. By next week, they will be introduced to real kibble. We've had quite a few visitors and more scheduled this weekend. The puppies are very friendly and they LOVE visitors, so if you are dying to come and see us, let me know. As always, we are going through an enormous amount of newpaper and if you have any laying around, please bring it with when you visit. Now I'm off to take some more new photos. These girls are so active that it's a long process - just like cutting toenails!

Four weeks already? Yes, it has been four long and short weeks. The puppies officially moved into the puppy pen in the kitchen today and they LOVE it! They have so much room to play in now. Finally they are gaining some good weight and they are losing that baby look. They eat 4-5 gruel meals per day and are still nursing several times a day. Personalities are emerging and I just love all of these little girls to pieces. I'm still working on photos, but here are some for you to enjoy.
